New era...
So, we buy a house, Lian turns 30, we get married, have a child....and then comes........the minivan....
It's official, we have traded in the Neon and on Thursday we pick up our new 2005 Dodge Caravan. It's black, sleek, sexy, has A/C...and has more room than you shake a stick at...or stuff into...
Now it has room for, in no particular order...dog kennel, baby seat, stroller, playpen, groceries, golf balls, golf shoes and golf clubs...lol...
Will post pictures when we get it on Thursday.
Death to the Silver Bullet, Long live the Black Knight....lol...

Tara and Jeff's Wedding - September 11th, 2004
Our friends Tara and Jeff were married on September 11th, and we took some photo's at the reception...
So, if you want take a look at the pictures we took (they will open in a new window).
In an ominous note, we ended up at Table 5...which happened to be the same table that Lian's cousins were at for our wedding...except we were home by 11pm, didn't break dance, and didn't walk into any mirrors...lol...
Congratulations guys....

Does Health Care really cost this much...
Now I'm not one to complain...well sometimes I do...but I am wondering as a society are we far from the pay-as-you-go system from the US.
Let me explain. I work for Ontera, and have good benefits (ok, great benefits) that I'm extremely happy and lucky to have. And as a family we just finished having our first baby (if you haven't heard or read of already). Now Ontario coverage or OHIP covers basic ward service if you are in for a child delivery...same nurses, same doctors, same food and the same small TV's...with my benefits I am able to afford the luxury of semi-private coverage...this just means instead of a possible 5 new mothers, we share the room with 1 other. The time Lian was there she was alone in the room 3 out of 5 days.
Now I just sign my name, give my insurance company and they take care of the rest. Today we recieved a summary of our time in the hospital, 4 days, semi-private coverage...$620...that's for four days...........that's $155/day....if you wanted a private room, tack on another $100+/day....forget that the TV rental is about $125/week...
I'm speechless, it doesn't happen often...but in this case, I can't fathom the cost of health care in Ontario. I thank the good lord above I have a job that can cover this, that the people that work in the hospital (the nurses, the cooks, the people that clean the rooms) are not to blame for this high cost. What bills are going to families who don't have coverage for certain items in connection to treating kids with cancer, emergency surgeries, elderly people who are dependent on getting the proper care in the proper timeframe.
In the end I am left wondering, insurance companies aren't out there to lose money, they make very healthy profits...so where else in our daily lives are we getting the screws turned. And will we ever know what the true cost of healthcare ever be...
Just wonderin' out loud...

Happy Birthday?
Lilly is 4 weeks old today....does that make her a month old, or does she turn a month old on the 18th??? Either way, I can't believe a month has passed already. She is growing so quickly! She is around 10 pounds now....My little piglet! Nah, I am only kidding. She is a bear...like her Daddy...

Gotta win Chase the Ace tonight...
Playing Men's night tonight at Pinewood, they run a game on the side called 'Chase the Ace'. Basically, they have taken a deck of cards, everyone in the field throws in a loonie and that is the pot. After the round they draw two names from everyone that is there and they draw two cards from the deck. You pull the 'Ace', and you win the pot.
We are down to the last two weeks and no one has won, so the pot is up to $1,100.00....so the odds are getting better...if it doesn't go tonight then next week they will draw until someone wins....now that will be cool...
I feel lucky tonight...I just stuffed a box of Lucky Charms into my underwear...
Gotta love the Irish...aayyyy....(Shout out to Brad Pitt in Devil's Own...Lian can explain...lol...)

Happy Birthday, Craig!
Today is Craig's 34th Birthday. Considering he was bouncing out of bed this morning, I would say he is in a good mood, which is good considering his age....just kidding.
Lilly got him a picture frame that says Daddy and me on it. Of course there is a picture of the two of them inside. He has decided to take it to work so he can have her on display there. Craig's parents gave him a huge can of formula for a present...which is exactly what he wanted. Last night we celebrated with his family...with leftovers from his Dad's birthday....don't ask....and tonight the 4 of us will celebrate.
Considering I haven't written on here for a long time, I can't think of anything else to write. I hope Craig has a wonderful day at work...on his birthday..which is a holiday...(double time and a half...cha ching!) and I love you.....
Cheers

Hockey Hall of Fame pictures
It has been almost a year since Lian and I went down to Toronto for our honeymoon, and I have finally gotten around to getting the pictures from the Hockey Hall of Fame online. I always get a great reaction from people when they ask what we did for our honeymoon...I think Lian was excited as I was to see some very special, historical hockey items. I even was able to get a picture of Tretiak's sweater, that man could stop almost anything...
You can check them out here.
I am using a program called Picasa and it was recently brought into the Google family of companies and is now associated with Blogger. The program catalogs all of your photos that you have stored on your computer, and it puts them into albums, then you just click and publish them as exported albums and then link to them from wherever you want...that's the easy part...the hard part is now taking enought pictures...

Eating like a piggy + Gas Pains = 1 Not Very Happy Baby...
Colic...now that word will scare most new parents...but did you know what the official definition of it is according to most physicians...
"An otherwise healthy infant who cries during the first three months of life for three or more hours a day on three or more days a week."
Now understand it isn't that bad, but when any baby is screaming for longer than 2 minutes, and you can't calm them down, then those 2 minutes seem like 2 hours.
There are many suggestions including massage, peddling the legs, slowing the feedings down, changing to a soy based formula, and changing the bottles themselves...but right now I've only used it twice and it seemed to work alright...Gripe Water...a little bit of sodium bicarbonate mixed with some soothing extras and it is suppose to help with gas...and before someone gets in a huff and says that some contain alcohol, the one we are using does not...
So I'm back to work, Lian is at home and I am trying my hardest to get Lian to lie down and get some sleep...of course being a new Mother every little movement and breath is a cause for concern...hopefully tonight goes better, I've got the next two days off so here's to getting my girls to bed for some sleep...
